NEWS November 2009

We are really excited that 2010 marks the opening of the new Scottish Barefoot Rehabilitation Centre at Cuttlehill, Ruthven! Liz has received Scottish Government funding to build the clinic. More details here soon.

In May 2010 we will be hosting a series of clinics with Dr Kerry Ridgway. Kerry Ridgway, DVM is one of the USA’s premier national and international lecturers and clinicians in the field of “Integrative Equine Medicine”. He works with veterinarians, trainers, hoof care professionals, equine body workers, and the riding public to integrate the best of “alternative therapies” with the best of veterinary allopathic conventional medicine. Critical and integral to the enhancement and treatment of performance issues; many of Dr. Ridgway’s seminars integrate the importance and role of saddle fit and properly balanced feet.

Friday 7th May 2010 - Evening Lecture

Saturday 8th May 2010 - Open Horse Owners Clinic

Sunday 9th May 2010 - Professional Clinic

Venue to be confirmed

We are also working out a date in late April 2010 for professionals with Dr Bob Bowker. Professor and researcher at Michigan State University, Bob has recently opened the Corona Vista Equine Center, a not-for-profit equine rehab and research centre. If you missed out on his 2008 seminar at Thainstone, he is down-to-earth, inspiring and passionate about hoof health and function.

Research can often seem remote from real world practical application. Some Barefootworks clients will have met Tara Jackson when she visited the UK with Peter Laidley a couple of years ago and travelled round with Anni. Tara has landed a fantastic job working with Bob Bowker in Michigan where she is continuing with research and managing his new rehabilitation and research facility.

Tara is bucking the trend, and will be coming over this summer to explain some practical trimming and management applications arising from their cutting edge research.

More details will be posted here shortly, but to register your interest in any of the above email dawn@barefootworks.co.uk.
